We spent a week at the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui. The main claim to fame here is the swimming area, an interconnected set of pools and slides that are a natural kid magnet. There is even a water elevator into which one swims in at one level and out approximately 20 feet higher. We took Sierra and Kade on this once, but they were not pleased; much too claustrophobic (and wet).
The surfeit of children make this not the most restful of places, but we never worried about our kids yelling; someone else’s always were as well.
We were fairly lazy and rarely left the vicinity of the hotel. Our one big expedition was to go whale watching just up the coast, past Kihei. Food at the hotel was somewhat varied- the highlight was their fish restaurant Humuhumunukunukuapua’a. The restaurant sits in the middle of a lagoon filled with carp to which diners can feed leftover bread; Kade and Siera dispensed our whole basket and watched the fish roil the water.
