We finally escaped shelter in place for a short trip to Kirkwood, Silver Lake, and the Desolation Wilderness. We car camped at Silver Lake for one night, met our friends the Vageloses and Brands, then went backpacking. This was Riley’s first camping trip, and she struggled at times- seven miles of hiking and some uncertain nights in the tent wore her out. She slept all the way home and spent a couple of days napping afterwards.
