Our second of three trips during the summer of Covid. We started by camping a few nights near Ebbetts Pass, in the Sierra Nevada between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. This is one of the less traveled parts of the range, so we did not see quite the overcrowding that was evident in the more popular Desolation Wilderness.
After Ebbetts Pass, we headed out to the Ruby Mountains, which are an Alpine oasis in the Nevada desert about halfway between Reno and Salt Lake City. We backpacked for a couple of nights, having the lakes where we stayed to ourselves (something that never happens in California).
